Top 5 Communication Apps in Germany Q3 2022

In the third quarter of 2022, Germany's top communication apps, including Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram, Snapchat, and Signal Private Messenger, exhibited diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active user metrics on a unified platform.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced a steady decline in weekly revenue, starting from about $1.6K at the end of June and dipping to around $1.2K by the end of September. Weekly downloads fluctuated, peaking at approximately 73K in mid-August, while weekly active users slightly decreased from 15.8M to 15.4M over the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging between 93K and 119K. Weekly active users showed a consistent upward trend, rising from 49.4M at the beginning of the quarter to 49.6M by the end.

Telegram demonstrated a noticeable increase in weekly revenue, starting at $342 and climbing to $885 by mid-September. Downloads saw a steady rise, peaking at 78K in the final week of September. However, active users varied slightly, ending the quarter at approximately 5.2M.

Snapchat from Snap Inc showed significant spikes in weekly revenue, reaching as high as $49.2K in early July before stabilizing around $12.5K towards the end of the quarter. Downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around 65K to 75K weekly. Active users increased from 9.7M to 9.9M throughout the quarter.

Signal Private Messenger had a consistent performance with weekly downloads gradually increasing from 47K to 54K by the end of September. Active users showed a slight upward trend, growing from 3.7M to 3.7M during the same period.
